Highlights

Imagine spending the nights under glittering stars, next to a gently flowing stream that originates from glacial slopes. Think about looking up to see a shimmer of moonlight emerging behind the jagged edges of the mountains high in the sky. As you go to sleep in a warm tent, dream about seeing and photographing the next morning’s golden rays warming up the peaks of snowclad mountains that surround the valley. And next morning, when all that beauty unfolds outside the camp, relish the moment photographing the spectacle with a sense of satisfaction, and then walk back to the camp to enjoy a cup of steaming tea and a heavy breakfast waiting fo .... Tour Itinerary
(9 Nights 10 Days)

Day 1

Arrival at Delhi. Overnight Volvo to Manali.

Upon arrival at New Delhi International Airport, you shall proceed (on own) to reach the Volvo Pickup Point. You are headed for an overnight journey to Manali.

Day 2

Manali to Jispa

Today, early morning you shall arrive in Manali, refresh & take rest for a while, shaking up the stress of an overnight Volvo journey. Later, have lunch (on own) & we head towards Jispa. Perched on the banks of River Bhaga, Jispa provides the most stunning views of surrounding Mountains. Situated at a stunning height of 10,500 ft., this little village, home to about 78 households, serves as a halt for travelers on the long road trip to Ladakh. You will be surrounded by picturesque views of the mist-covered mountains and clouds, both of which make the village look like a brilliantly painted portrait. Take in the leisurely pace of the Himalayan Nature and enjoy a stroll by the River.

Day 3

Jispa to Purne

After breakfast, proceed towards Purne. Today, you shall travel through the most untouched & isolated regions of the World. Soo isolated, that just a couple of years before, you even did not have any gravel roads to approach them. So, take in the beauty of these least explored corners & be mesmerized with the jaw-dropping landscapes & water crossings it offers. Gonbo Rangjon, a sacred mountain on this route; known as u2018The Summer Paradise of Zanskaru2019, is simply like a dream beyond oneu2019s imagination. Wander here and admire the flowers that grow in the mountain pastures.

Day 4

Excursion to Phugtal Monastery

After breakfast, start your trek towards Phugtal. Visit the Phugtal Monastery; perched high on a cliff 4000m above sea level overlooking a gorge, the honeycomb-like structure has a surreal appearance, as if growing out of the rocks and exploding out of a cave. Built on a steep rock face overlooking the Tsarap River Valley, the Phutkal or Pughtal Gompa is an architectural marvel. Today, Phugtal Monastery is home to 80 Monks, a Temple, four Prayer Rooms, a Library, and numerous Residents. The primitive cave is also protected by a sacred spring. In fact, a hollow in the rock above the Monastery contains flowing water. This water is believed to possess medicinal and healing properties. Explore and admire the complex of prayer halls, library, chortens, and collection of Tibetan Buddhism Arts. Later, join the Monks for evening prayer & have a taste of monastic lifestyle.

Day 5

Purne to Padum

After breakfast, get ready to further explore the most isolated regions of Zanskar. Purne to Padum is 7 hoursu2019 drive with a few steep uphill and downhill stretches. This route gives almost no water crossings and stays on one side of the valley for most of the time. Just before arriving Padum, visit the Sheela Village Waterfall. In summers, it turns out to be a refreshing point to take a shower, and in winters when it freezes, it is a lovely sight to watch.

Day 6

Padum to Pensi La

After breakfast, visit the Karsha Gompa. Karsha Gompa is one of the biggest Monasteries in Zanskar. It has a collection of ancient rock carvings, old wall paintings, bone relics and remains of Avalokiteshvara Temple. It has a neat white-washed building comprising of several chortens, chapels, statues, attractive art works, residential cells for 150 lamas residing there who belong to geluks-pa-sect. This Monastery gives you a marvelous view of the Glaciers, Landscapes, Greenery, Mountains and Breathtaking view of the entire Zanskar Region. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the early evolution of the Buddhist culture and their traditions and ways. The only way to explore Karsha is on foot. Later post afternoon, we drive towards the Pensi La Pass to (14,000ft), which enables grand views of the Zanskar Peaks and the great Drang Drung Glacier; once in a lifetime experience of camping under the Moonlights.

Day 7

Pensi La to Zangla

After breakfast, proceed towards Zangla. Enroute, explore the Sani Lake. A picturesque village in Zanskar, Zangla is an offbeat destination & is set against the beautiful backdrop of Zanskar Range. This is a beautiful place to visit even though it does not have any attraction other than the Zangla Palace. It is a must-see place for its rustic charm and village life. The Zangla Palace is perched atop a hillock in the village and remains the only attraction here. It is often referred to as a Zangla Monastery, majorly because of the fact that it houses a Temple and some Monks inhabit it. The view from the palace is spectacular and thus visiting it, should not to be missed.

Day 8

Zangla to Khaltse via Lingshed

After breakfast, proceed towards Khaltse. Three passes await you today - Murgunla, Singela and Sirsila. These are not as tough, except Sirsila which is at a mighty elevation. The journey is so remote youu2019ll not see the journey on google maps. The journey will be back-breaking and tough. On the way, in one of the most remote regions in the world, youll find the isolated village of Lingshed and a stunning 1,000 year old Monastery. Till very recently it was only accessible by long and arduous climbs across mountain passes and was a hidden Monastery, chiefly famous due to its status on the Frozen Zanskar River Trek - Chadar. It is a big monastery affiliated to the Gelugpa order and houses around 60 monks. There is also an Austrian School in Lingshed. Lingshed village seems to be lost in time and is quite hidden from the rest of the world.

Day 9

Khaltse to Leh

After breakfast, proceed on the final leg of your journey to Leh. On arrival, you could rest or even climb up to the Shanti Stupa.

Day 10

Onward Home

Today, after a delicious breakfast, you will be transferred to ‘Leh Airport’ for your Onward Journey Home with great memories of ‘ALifetimeTrip’.
