Day 1

Arrival at Chandigarh, transfers to Narkanda ( 175 kms/ 6 Hrs )

Arrive at Chandigarh Airport/Railway Station and head towards Shimla. Take appropriate breaks on the way and enjoy the beauty as you leave the hustle and bustle of Shimla behind. View the lush green valleys and apple orchirds on both sides of the road. Stay in the midst of nowhere in Narkanda.

Day 2

Narkanda to Chitkul(176km/6hrs)

After breakfast, take a few breaths as ‘Chitkul’ awaits. About 28km away from Sangla Valley at an altitude of 3450m and on the banks of Baspa River, there lies the last inhabited place in India before Indo-Tibet border named Chitkul. The magical beauty which this village offers is unmatched and incomparable. The last village on the Indo-Tibet border, Chitkul, is truly one of the hidden gems of India. The village, at first glance will give you a feeling of time travel, way back into the past. Chitkul offers you a panoramic view of the Himalayan range on one side, dense trees on the other, and the sparkling ever-gushing River Baspa. Speaking of its beauty; each sight is a magnificent sight to behold. No wonder, Chitkul is any photography lover’s haven.

Day 3

Chitkul to Kalpa (60km/3hrs)

After breakfast, proceed towards Kalpa. Kalpa is at approximately 9000ft so expect freezing cold winds and low temperatures all through. Kalpa is also the last halt where mobile phones will work. You can call your family from here. If you have a BSNL connection, your phone might work until Kaza, if the cellular stations still have power. Else, we will be out of coverage area for the rest of the trip. Kalpa is a gem of a little destination with enthrallingly majestic views of the Kinner Kailash and Jorkandan Peaks looming right above the village.While here, visit the striking Kinnauri-Style. By the side of the Kinner Kailash is the 79 foot high single rock which resembles the Shivalinga, and is known for its color-changing properties as the day wears on.

Day 4

Kalpa to Tabo via Nako(170 kms /9 hrs)

Early morning you can walk to the Old Shiva temple and Buddhist monastery in Kalpa, if time permits. After early breakfast and head to Tabo this day. The terrain will change after Pooh and you will see the end of the tree line. See the confluence of Spiti and Sutlej river at Khab. Lunch at a beautiful village called Nako. If time permits then we visit Gue to see the Mummy. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 5

Tabo- Dhankar monastery/ Pin valley- Kaza (120 kms / 3-4 hrs)

After breakfast we will proceed towards Kaza . Enroute halt at visit Dhankar monastery and Pin valley and continue towards Kaza. On-arrival check-in into hotel for rest and overnight stay.

Day 6

Kaza - Day trip Langza, Komic, Hikkim, Key, Kibber

After Breakfast easy and today we head to Langza- the main area for Fossils, Hikkim- the highest post office in the world and Komic- one of the highest villages in the world at 4600 meters. A visit to the Tangyud monastery in Komic is also worthwhile. You can see some snow laden peaks during this drive. To make this memorable, you can also hike from Langza to Komic- 3-4 hours. Visit the postmaster of the highest post office in the world at Hikkim and mail some postcards from here. Drive back to Kaza. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 7

Kaza - Kalpa (206 Kms/ 5-6 hrs)

Today marks the beginning of the end of this expedition. We make our way south towards Kinnaur Valley. Along this journey, you can capture some scenic visions that you might have missed out on your camera. After a scenic and memorable drive, we will end the journey at Kalpa.

Day 8

Kalpa to Shimla (225km/7hrs)

Today, leave early and enjoy the drive from Kalpa to Shimla. We will plan to stop for lunch at the famous Negi Dhaba. On the way back you will have ample time to take pictures and some stops at interesting points.

Day 9

Shimla to Chandigarh (115km/4hrs)

Today after breakfast, drive to Chandigarh and upon arrival; proceed to Chandigarh Airport for your Onward Journey Home with great memories of ALifetimeTrip.

Important Information

  • Most of the Hotels in Spiti provide Extra Mattress/Roll out bed, as Extra Bed.
  • Non Indians are not permitted to travel without innerline permits.
  • Rooms shall be the base category rooms at all the hotels/ camps, unless specified.
  • The tourism infrastructure in Spiti Region is not very developed and one should not expect or compare it with the standards of plains & other developed destinations, you may face scarcity of water and power in the region and so you may come across situation like water (hot) being supplied on time basis – morning & evening.
  • If you are not interested in Hotels do inform our tour planner to replace the same at planning stage to homestays.
  • Any amendments in your arrival/ departure timings, after confirming the tour should be informed to the reservation desk, for smooth pickup and drop at the Airports.
  • Remember this is an adventure tour to Spiti– an offbeat destination and not a leisure trip to Goa. You might not get food of your choice, most of the camps close by 10pm and you might have to begin quite early in the mornings. Your cooperation is highly solicited to make the tour memorable.
